About this item

  • 16 COLORANTS SET FOR CANDLE MAKING: This wax dye set for candles contains 16 jars with high quality individually colored chips suitable for nearly any kind of wax, except for gel wax
  • COLORING DYES FOR CANDLES: the net weight of dyes in each jar is 0.2 oz (5.6 g). Such quantity will be enough to dye 3.5 - 6 lb (1.6 - 2.8 kg) of wax. The proportion is thus 0.03-0.06 oz of dyes per 1 lb of wax.
  • COLORING WAX CHIPS: these candle dye flakes are completely soluble in the melted candle base, do not clot, and the candle surface won’t flake off or tarnish with time.
  • ALEXES CANDLE MAKING COLORANTS: you need to take into account the initial color of wax to be mixed with these color chips, because the resulting color of candles may be not as expected
  • WAX DYE FOR CANDLES: you can mix any dyes from the set and get new colors to implement your wildest ideas

Product Description

16colorwaxdyejars

Box contents: 16 jars with wax dyes

Total net weight: 3.2 oz

Dyes melting temperature: 167-185 °F (75-85°C). Please always take into account the maximum heating temperature recommended for your wax.

Dosage: 0.03-0.06 oz of dyes per 1 lb of wax

We offer high-quality candle making dyes, suitable for organic waxes and paraffin. The only type of wax they are not compatible with is gel wax.

You can mix up the dyes creating a variety of colors and shades according to your ideas and preferences.

For your convenience, we have already crushed the wax dyes into flakes to be conveniently and more easily incorporated into a candle mass.

It may take some time and patience to fully blend the dyes with the wax (up to 5 minutes of continuous stirring at a stable temperature), but there won’t be any clots and the coloring will be even. In addition. The finished candle keeps its color brightness and does not tarnish with time.

step1

step2

step3

step4

Step 1 - Adding

Melt your wax / paraffin at the recommended temperature and add the dye. You need to determine the optimal temperature both for your wax /paraffin (not to overheat it) and the dye (to let it start melting).

Step 2 - Blending

Make sure you stir the wax / paraffin with the dye at a stable temperature for at least 3-5 minutes to let the dye fully melt and color the candle wax. The recommended temperature for dye melting is 167-185 °F (75-85°C).

Step 3 - Pouring

Prepare the mold for your future candle. Always take into account the recommended temperature for your mold, as a too hot temperature may distort a plastic mold, for example. Lubricate the mold with silicone for easier release and pour the liquid colored wax / paraffin into it.

Step 4 - Releasing

Some waxes may form a sinkhole on the candle surface as the candle is cooling and hardening. In this case you should perform additional pouring to fill the sinkhole. As soon as the candle has fully solidified, you can take it out of the mold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instructions are BS, but colors are good
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2022
Ok, so in the first image you'll see 4 candles, 2 pink, 2 red, 2 pastel orange, two orange.

The pink and pastel orange, are from the first batch where I followed the directions included.

The red and actual orange are the second batch, where I did my own thing. Here's the breakdown:

Instead of the 3.5g color per 3.5lbs of wax (as instructed) I did 2.5-3g color to 5.1oz soy wax. For the black candles, I did 4g of color for 5.1oz soy wax.

You need A LOT of color to achieve what I got in the 2nd image. BUT, the colors turned out great, and there's enough color left for at least 54 candles. I poured 9 colors x 3 containers x 1.7oz wax each.

While I'm not happy with the wasted product of the first two failed attempts, the 3rd time was the charm. After drying the colors are vibrant! My only hangup is that the box doesn't come with regular purple, or regular blue. The blues are either light or dark, NO in between, and the purple is pastel only, so I had to get creative. Thankfully I'm a painter and know how to mix colors lol.

Overall, not bad and will order again.

Worked great with Amson soy and beeswax mixture on the first try. A little goes a long way for pastel colors, looks like you can get fairly vibrant colors at higher doses. Melt and dye temp was 80C and pour temp was 65C. Will buy again.
